Manual
Can The
Earth4Energy
Homebuilt Solar And Wind Power Plans Truly
Put An End To Your Electric
Bills?
Earth4Energy is
the name of an eBook that deals with the
timely and important topic of how to
reduce the escalating costs of
electricity in an environmentally
friendly way. This instruction manual
attempts to teach the reader how to build
low-cost solar and wind powered
electricity generators in order to reduce or even
completely eliminate the amount of power
purchased from the utility
companies.
One of the major problems of
home generated electricity has been the
enormous up-front cost of purchasing and having
a commercial system installed. At $6,000 to
well over $20,000 the beak even point can in
some cases be 8 to 15 years. Building your own
can be as low as $200 each for either a solar
panel or a single wind turbine. The pay back on
building it yourself can be just a few
weeks.
What you get:
Earth4Energy is an instant download,
73 page eBook that you can read directly from a
computer monitor or print out for more
traditional reading. (Note: see update below
about new videos).
What Building Skills Are
Required?:
Just the basic tools skills that most
homeowners acquire over time. Using a jigsaw,
electric drill, soldering, hammering, sawing,
screw driving, painting etc.
However, if you choose to integrate your
solar or wind generators into your home wiring
to run your appliances or even to sell your
excess electricity back to the power company,
you will need to hire a licensed
electrician.
What Tools are Needed?:
Jigsaw, hand or circular saw, soldering
iron, electric drill, socket set, file, hand
sander, screw drivers, paint brush, hammer,
etc…. well you get the idea. All you will need
are common everyday tools most of which you may
already own.
How Much Time Does It Take To
Build?:
Once the parts and raw materials have been
acquired it will take about a weekend for an
organized and experienced handy-man (or
handy-woman sorry). It might take at least a
week per solar panel or windmill for those of
us with more average skills.
The Negatives:
The book is not a perfect step by step
example of exactly how to build the
same solar panels and wind generators that the
author built.
I must say though, in defense of
Earth4Energy, it does acknowledge that you
may not find exactly the same parts for your
generator projects anyway. So, the instructions
are geared toward helping you to understand the
concepts behind the construction for maximum
adaptability when building your own
version.
Some details are missing that I found
annoying. Almost nothing is said about how to
mount the solar panels to the roof of your
house. It also was not completely clear how to
mount the windmill motor/generator and blade
assembly on the vertical support pole so that
it will spin freely without wobbling. I suspect
this is more obvious once the hands-on part of
building begins.
I also wish that the book came with a
companion video. (NOTE: see the new
update below). I find that so
much more of the critical construction details
can be communicated through a video as compared
to the written word.
The 73 pages of
Earth4Energy do contain a few chapters
of fluff like: Ethanol As A Viable Energy
Source, Hydro-Electricity and Reducing Your Oil
Independence. While somewhat interesting they
add little.
The Positives:
The writing is mostly clear, simple and
understandable.
You can tell that the author of this book
has actually built the solar and wind
generators that he writes about.
The manual includes lots of diagrams,
illustrations and photos that, most of the
time, do an adequate job of clarifying the
written instructions.
The book is available in an instant download
format. This means that about 5 minutes after
ordering over the internet its on your computer
and ready to read directly or print out for a
more traditional reading.
I purchased my copy at a sale price of
$49.95 which is reasonable for this specialized
information, especially if you consider that
the project should pay back your entire
investment in just a few weeks. Of course you
have to actually build something and not just
read it to make this happen.
Support:
An email address is available for technical
support questions. Also, free updates are
posted to the Earth4Energy members section of
their website. 6 Updates were posted in July of
2008 alone.
Guarantee:
Earth4Energy offers a 60 day money
back guarantee.
Price: I purchased my copy on
sale for $49.97 USD
Bottom Line:
The
earth4energy manual is a competent, if
not perfect, guide for making these energy
saving devices. It is complete enough to have
sold more that any of its competitors products
as of the time of this writing. In other words
it gets the job done at a reasonable price. It
is for these reasons that I am comfortable
recommending
earth4energy.
UPDATE: The
Earth4Energy Company has begun to produce a
whole series of short and focussed videos that
show critical details for building windmills and solar panels.
At the time of this update they are the
only publisher to do so.
Some of the initial videos show essential
methods and tricks for easily soldering
electrical leads to the individual solar cells
as well as exactly how to
interconnect all the cells in an entire
panel.
These and future videos on windmill
construction are available on a special
"members only" webpage that is available at no
extra charge to anyone that buys the main
eBook.
Because of the addition of these new
instructional videos, I have increased this
program's rating from 9.0 to 9.7.
Earth4Energy
is now our
highest rated
program.
